CCSA’s first executive director, Anne Schelleng manages all aspects of the administration of the chorus, including marketing, strategy, finance, and development. She graduated cum laude from the University of Hartford with a bachelor’s degree in flute performance and a concentration in computer science. Since then, she has obtained more than two decades of experience in the music industry.
From 1989 to 2001, Schelleng was the associate, then manager of marketing for the North American Printed Music Division of Boosey & Hawkes, Inc., in New York City. She relocated to San Antonio in 2001, working for Southern Music as general manager of retail, distribution, and publishing. In 2006, Schelleng accepted her current position with CCSA. The organization has flourished under her guidance, with a 100% increase in enrollment across all of its divisions and expansion of both early childhood music classes and tuition-free neighborhood choirs.
Prior to joining CCSA’s staff, Schelleng served as vice president of its board of directors from 2001 to 2006. She was involved in other childrens’ choruses before moving to San Antonio, sitting on the board of trustees of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and on the board of directors of the New Jersey Children’s Chorus. Additionally, she was the secretary, then co-chair of the Cultural Alliance of San Antonio from 2006 to 2008. Schelleng sang with the Austin’s Women’s Chorus Tapestry Singers for seven years, three of which she was artistic director, and with the San Antonio Mastersingers for eight years. She performs professionally around San Antonio as both a singer and flautist.
