This summer CCSA choristers traveled to New York City to participate in Eternal Light, part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York concert series in Issac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. There, YA Treble singers performed the world premiere of NOCTURNES Y ADIVINAZAS (composed and directed by Cristian Grases) and YA Young Men joined the Mixed Choir Laudridsen’s Lux Aeterna (directed by Jonathan Griffith). Rebecca Morgan, Associate Music Director, shares her reflections about traveling with singers and their trip to the Big Apple:
What an exciting summer tour! This year 23 CCSA singers headed out to NYC to perform at Carnegie Hall. Singing in a new hall with such a large group was new to our singers, but after the first rehearsal Children’s Chorus choristers proved themselves as leaders at every rehearsal.
Connections between Children’s Chorus and choristers from other groups from both Canada and the U.S. grew, and many of our singers exchanged contacts with others to stay in touch. But what they really enjoyed was diving into the music. It proved to me that the greatest part of touring is making great music with other great musicians.
