“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” – Aristotle. These words perfectly summarize my eight years in CCSA. When I think of CCSA, I am reminded of the excitement on the first day of a new season; the journey from reading a piece for the first time to its performance; the transformation of a group of kids to young artists at the stroke of a baton. I am reminded of the focus in each face as a piece begins; the ecstasy of hearing the final chord resolve, while the director holds their baton, and both the director and singers share a smile – sometimes of relief that somehow, we pulled it off.
CCSA has taught me professionalism, perseverance, and dedication; the value of teamwork and camaraderie. CCSA has given me experiences and memories to last a lifetime. Christmas, in particular, will never be the same for me after this year. For the past eight years I’ve spent the months leading up to Christmas in rehearsals. And as I advanced to the older choirs, we typically had several concerts right before Christmas. Some of my dearest memories are from those frenzied rehearsals right before a concert. Through CCSA I have found truly incredible friends, who make graduating more bittersweet than I can express. Each of you has profoundly impacted me and shaped me into the person I am today. Thank you to each and every person who has made this journey such an incredible one. I am forever grateful.”
From the Family: We have truly enjoyed seeing Teresa blossom during her eight years in CCSA. Following in her sister Kristin’s footsteps, she decided to join CCSA in 2008. When Teresa went to her very first audition, she was very nervous and ready to back out, and very unsure as to whether she would enjoy choir! She has matured tremendously both as a singer and as a person, gaining confidence in herself & in her artistic ability. Teresa has really enjoyed the unique performance experiences that CCSA has offered, from performing with the San Antonio Symphony and other choirs, working with visiting directors, going on tour to NYC, and many others. Younger singers look up to her, and she has grown in her ability to lead others and be a good example. We are so grateful especially to Mrs. McCormick and Mrs. Taute, for their outstanding work with Teresa during the majority of her time in CCSA. We are very proud of you Teresa, we love you, and we wish you the very best for all of your future endeavors!
